The warm clear waters of the Mexican Pacific Banderas Bay make it the perfect place for diving, as it has a great diversity of marine life and beautiful corals. Puerto Vallarta is one of the best diving destinations in Mexico, here there are enough diving lessons with professional instructors who combine their expertise and personal attention to all levels of PADI certification.

Diving in Vallarta is one of the most interesting and sought after by tourists activities, so there are many points for this sport, some of the most important are: Los Arcos, Quimixto, Playa Las Animas and Punta Mita, or Islands Marieta, located about an hour by boat from Puerto Vallarta. Several companies offer tours with excellent service and tours. Most day trips include transportation, snorkeling equipment and lunch.

These waters attract experienced divers, who return again and again trying to capture the different landscapes and underwater species that this great bay offers for optimal diving in Vallarta.

Banderas Bay has depths of up to 3,000 meters, becoming one of the world’s deepest bays. The bay was named after Francisco Hernández de Sanbuenaventura around 1500. Hernández While exploring the bay, was received by Indian arrows and carrying banners, hence its name.

During the summer months, the underwater visibility ranging between 30 and 40 meters and its temperature is between 23 degrees. Diving trips are not as popular in summer and this is an added value, you can enjoy a lower rate and prices star hotels. Why do not you come to Vallarta to dive this summer?

Los Arcos: Training granite rock caves and ancient form has been to leave the majestic arches that give name to the National Underwater Park. The main arch, with depths ranging from 8 or 20 feet, you will find in this part of the Diablo Canyon has an impressive depth of 550 meters and marks the beginning of the Continental Shelf. Where divers can experience the feeling of being in the abyss.

Majahuitas: Located south of the Bay of Banderas and which can only be reached by boat. This site is home to a unique colony of garden eels and black coral. Divers may land on the beach to spend your surface interval or eating. Here also you can see manta rays and dolphins.

Marieta Islands: These magical islands are 22 nautical miles (40 kilometers) from Puerto Vallarta, north of the bay. Many species of seabirds make their home in the Marieta Islands. Colonies of blue-footed booby thrive in these islands, some of them found only here in the Sea of Cortez and the Galapagos Islands. This dive is interesting because there are lava tunnels and caves that can be traversed.

Chimo: It is a small fishing village located on the southern coast of the bay. During the winter months, this dive site is populated by giant manta rays. Apart from the abundant marine life Chimo has something very special. Here, the seafloor is twisted and stretched to create an interesting underwater landscape.

El Morro: Located just after the protected waters of the bay 55 miles north. We booked this site for experienced divers. The nose has a lot to offer, giant manta rays, schools of jacks soft corals and other large fish. There are a number of hills and caves. Divers can explore a cave that passes through a pinnacle that starts and ends at 25 meters depth 18.
